MALTA TOURISM AWARDS

Purpose

The Malta Tourism Awards event was last organised by Skål

International - Malta and the Malta Tourism Authority in 2003.

The aim behind this event was to recognise and reward

excellence in the travel and tourism industry in Malta.

The awards were presented during a ceremony,

under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism, in late

September to coinciding with World Tourism Day.

Categories

Awards are given to the winning entry among nominees in eight

different categories and an award is reserved to a travel and

tourism personality of the year. The latter is given to a person

who made a significant contribution to the development and

growth of the travel and tourism industry during his career.

Awards rules

The awards are made strictly in accordance with a set of rules

drawn up by the Executive Committee of Skal International -

Malta and the Malta Tourism Authority.

Nominations are reviewed by an independent adjudicating

panel, composed of experts in various aspects of travel and

tourism, that has complete discretion in selecting winners in

each category.

Malta Tourism Awards 2004

For two years running, Skål International Malta organised the Malta Tourism Awards, to recognise and reward excellence in the travel and tourism industry in Malta. Awards were given to the winning entry among nominees in eight different categories and an award was reserved to a travel and tourism personality of the year who made a significant contribution to the development and growth of the travel and tourism industry during his career.

The Awards were not organised in 2004 and 2005 due to lack of funds, but it remains the objective of Skål to resume the Awards as soon as it can.
